Is Your Website Working for You in 2010?

Ok so the New Year is here and many of us have cleaned out our closets and houses to bring in 2010. But have you looked at your website, is it dirty does it need to be cleaned up? Do you have old news articles or testimonials? Does your copyright information at the bottom of your site still say 2006? These days, most people go online to find a product or service, or investigate something they are interested in or heard about. And if you dont have a website, you are missing out. If your website is outdated, you are turning them away. Your website is your 24/7/365 sales person. Where else can you hire a sales person to work for you 24/7/365 for $2.00 - 4.00/hour?
Here are a few tips to keep your website looking new and updated.
If you have something new or exciting happening in the company, post highlights about it on your homepage. Running any specials on products? Win an award?
Add client testimonials. This can really help boost your reputation. The best way to do this is to spread them throughout your website on different pages, just be sure they stand out.
Chose the right colors. Make sure the text color doesnt blend in with or clash with the background color. Use bright lively colors, so you dont look boring.
Be sure the website is easy to navigate. If you want to keep visitors on your site, be sure they can make it back to the home page without getting lost.
Keep your content up-to-date and interesting. Provide some information they cant find anywhere else, or just present it better than the others. If it doesnt stand out, they wont come back.
Make frequent changes. They dont have to be major overhauls; just minor changes make it look updated and may help boost search engine rankings. Try alternating some graphics, updating your links, or offer specials. Recommend change is weekly, but a minimum of monthly updates.
Avoid popups. Most people hate them.
Be consistent. Keep your layout and presentation consistent throughout the site. You dont want to confuse you guests.
Create a bio page. Let your readers know who you are. This will help form a connection.
If you can write, post articles on your website. Publish a newsletter or start a blog linked to our site. If visitors like what they read, they will return for more.
o Blogs are an easy way to increase your keywords used in search engine optimization.
o Position yourself as an expert. You are not writing a book, just a blog. (Trust me, I am no writer, and was scared speechless when I was asked to write blog entries and newsletter articles.)
o You can add slideshows, pictures, or videos on your blog.
Now, I know you are excited about starting up your website. And if you already have a website, you are probably already checking to see how updated it is. If you need our help, please contact us. Visit our website at www.kotoritechnologies.com .
