5 Office 365 Tips to Customize and Boost Productivity
Introduction
What's going on everybody? This is Neadom Tucker with another episode of "Ask Neadom". Today, we're going to take a look at five tips for Office 365 to help you and your business customize the way it looks and increase productivity inside your office.
The five things we're gonna take a look at are:
- Customization of Branding
- Two-Factor Authentication
- Microsoft Teams
- SharePoint inside your business
Custom Themes
I don't know about you, but I really like to customize the things that we use inside of our office. Office 365 gives us the ability to brand and customize the look of Office 365 for your organization.
I was able to create a logo for our "Ask Neadom" channel and put that here. I got a custom background and customized the color menu. On the right-hand side, you can see I got 'Neadom Tucker'—typically by default, all you would see is 'NT'.
To do this:
- Go to the Admin Center
- Click Show All
- Navigate to Settings > Organization Profile
- Under Manage Custom Themes for Your Organization, you can edit and apply your branding.
Make it feel like your business. Make it feel like home.
Two-Factor Authentication
Cloud apps are great because we can access them from anywhere—but so can hackers. That’s why Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) is essential.
To enable it:
- Log in to the Admin Panel in Office 365
- Go to Azure Active Directory
- Click Users > All Users
- Select Multi-Factor Authentication and enable it
You can use your mobile phone or an app to secure access. It’s simple and critical for protecting your business.
Microsoft Teams
In our organization, people work from the field, from home—everywhere. Email and phones only go so far. That’s where Microsoft Teams comes in.
Teams is like Slack, but if you're already paying for Office 365, it just makes sense to use it.
Inside Teams:
- You can create sections like PreProduction for shows like "Ask Neadom"
- Set up channels for graphics, chat, and collaboration
- Stay connected with your team in real time
It’s a powerful tool to keep everyone aligned.
SharePoint
To keep your entire organization connected across departments, SharePoint is your go-to.
With SharePoint, you can:
- Create communication channels
- Post news articles, events, documents, quick links, and profiles
- Enable comments and collaboration
- Add custom calendars and lists
- Build custom apps and forms using Power Apps
It’s the most complex part of Office 365, but also the most powerful. If you're unsure how to get started, visit:
